Confirmation reaching us is that DapoOyebanjo creatively known as “Dbanj” has signed a multi-million Naira brand endorsement deal with Globacom Nigeria. This would have to be the second endorsement deal with the Nigerian telecom giant. The endorsement was inked by the Pop Star after weeks of deliberations. D’banj now joins the likes of heavyweight contemporary musicians Psquare as well as recently unveiled ambassadors Naeto C, M.I, Lynxxx, Bez, Burna Boy, Flavour, Waje, Omawumi, and little known Chee. Insiders tell us the deal is ‘unbelievable’; with those familiar with details saying it may be one of the costiest signings of 2013. Exact figures were not immediately available. But we learnt that just like his former deal with the company, this new ambassadorship will also come with added values, including an automobile, and major performance commitments. As to whether this signing will add more value to both parties involved we are yet to see. D’banj and Globacom fell out in 2010 when the pop singer reportedly refused to extend his initial 2008 N70M two-year contract. Glo was allegedly offering something less, far less than what Psquare got (the Pop twins signed a whooping N240M with the company in 2010).
